Brisbane Region Headquarters
The Brisbane Region covers approximately 5,160 km2 and includes the local government areas of Somerset Regional Council (part), Moreton Bay Regional Council, the Brisbane City Council, and Redlands City Council, with a total population of approximately 1,710,000.
The Brisbane Region is divided into three zones. Northern Zone covers the area from Kilcoy through to Caboolture and Bribie Island, down to Sandgate, across to Dayboro and into the northern suburbs of Brisbane city. Central Zone covers inner Brisbane, as well as the western corridor from Pullenvale to Ashgrove and Enoggera. Southern Zone includes areas from Durack in the west, across the southern suburbs of Brisbane as well as the Redland Bay area and the southern Moreton Bay islands.
Brisbane regional operations is led by an Assistant Commissioner who oversees 38 urban Fire and Rescue stations, regional headquarters and area offices staffed by approximately 829 employees, ranging from career firefighters, emergency management officers, auxiliary firefighters, community safety officers, and administration staff.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations is located within the region, but led by the Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Assistant Commissioner. RFSQ Brisbane Region operates with 30 brigades, manned by approximately 1,458 volunteers, 57 volunteer community educators, 4 regional and 4 area RFSQ personnel.
State Emergency Service (SES) regional operations is co-located within the Brisbane Region Headquarters but is led by the SES Assistant Commissioner. SES Brisbane Region operates with 22 groups, and is staffed by approximately 1,500 volunteers, including 11 regional Queensland Fire and Emergency Services personnel, and volunteer community educators.
Brisbane Fire Communications Centre is located within the Emergency Services Complex at Kedron.

South Eastern Region Headquarters
The South Eastern Region (SER) contains some of the fastest developing urban and rural communities, populations and land use growth areas in Queensland. This includes local government areas and major cities of the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich, the Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley and Somerset.
South Eastern regional operations is led by a Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) Assistant Commissioner who oversees 37 Fire and Rescue stations and 85 Rural Fire Brigades. The region is staffed by approximately 487 permanent fire officers, 240 auxiliary firefighters, and technical and administrative staff.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations is co-located with the Fire and Rescue Station SER but led by the RFS Queensland Assistant Commissioner. RFS south-east operates with 85 brigades, staffed by approximately 3,500 volunteers, including regional Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel, volunteer firefighters and volunteer community educators.
State Emergency Service (SES) regional operations is located at Ormeau and led by the SES Assistant Commissioner. SES south-east operates with 25 groups, and is staffed by approximately 922 members, including regional QFES personnel, volunteer firefighters and volunteer community educators.
The South Eastern Fire Communications Centre is located at Southport on the Gold Coast and the Regional Operations Centre is located at the Regional Headquarters in Beenleigh.

North Coast Region Headquarters
The North Coast Region (NCR) covers the coastal areas of Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast, and inland to the North and South Burnett. Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast are among the fastest growing urban areas in Australia and attract significant numbers of tourists throughout the year. The Region also includes the World Heritage K'gari (Fraser Island), and a significant agricultural and horticultural industry.
North Coast is led by the North Coast Assistant Commissioner who oversees regional operations and Service Leads for Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) is led by the Director Regional Operations (DRO) who oversees services provided from 46 urban fire stations and Area Offices staffed by approximately 700 employees, ranging from career and auxiliary firefighters, administration and support personnel, community safety officers and technical rescue. Two Duty Managers of Operations (DMO) provide 7am to 7pm oversight of Fire and Rescue Operations located underneath the regional Fire Communications Centre.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) is led by the RFS Regional Manager with 29 staff operating in Area Offices in Burnett, Bundaberg, Maryborough and Sunshine Coast. The NCR RFS supports over 5100 volunteer firefighters and volunteer community educators across 203 Rural Fire Brigades across an area of 51,725 square kilometres.
The NCR State Emergency Service (SES) is led by the SES Regional Manager overseeing 11 fulltime and 2 part time staff, with Are a Offices in Maryborough and Kunda Park. The regional team supports 9 active SES Units comprising 47 groups and over 700 volunteers spread across 8 Local Government areas.
Our Fire Communications Centre is located at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast. The Centre is led by a Manager (FCM) with each of the four (4) rotational shifts comprising of a Supervisor (FCS) and Fire Communication Officers (FCOs).

Central Region Headquarters
The Central Region of Queensland is a diverse mix of primary production, extractive industry, minerals and energy export, tourism and commerce. The Region stretches from the Whitsunday Islands to Agnes Water, encompassing tropical islands and the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. Moving inland the Region takes in the mining areas of the Bowen and Galilee Basins and the agricultural and pastoral districts west to Haddon Corner at the South Australian border. Major centres in the Region include Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald and Longreach.
QFES operates from 38 Fire and Rescue Stations with a staff of over 620 full time and auxiliary firefighters. Rural fire services are provided by over 8,000 Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteer members supported by a team of RFS career officers operating offices in Rockhampton, Gladstone, Mackay and Barcaldine/Emerald.
The State Emergency Service (SES) within Central Region consists of 14 Units comprising of 66 Groups and over 1,200 active volunteers supported by 14 staff spread across offices at Rockhampton, Mackay and Longreach.
The Rural Fire Brigades and Fire & Rescue Stations are resourced with over 200 fire appliances, including specialised appliances for technical rescue and hazardous materials response. Our firefighters attend over 6,000 emergencies each year. The range of emergencies includes road crash rescue along the Bruce, Gregory, Capricorn and Landsborough Highways and feeder roads – industrial accidents, hazardous materials releases and fires in the major centres – landscape fires in the grassland and bushland – and residential fires and emergencies across the Region.
To support operations across the Region, SES has 59 flood boats, 99 vehicles and 135 assorted trailers. The SES volunteers across Central Region, on average, perform in excess of 55,000 hours of service within their communities each year.
QFES supports the disaster response and recovery efforts through core membership of the district and local disaster management groups. QFES also provides disaster management training, exercising and assistance with plan preparation and assessment through dedicated Emergency Management Coordinators.
Central Region’s Fire and Emergency Communications Centre is located in Rockhampton. Our Communications Officers provide a vital link between people in need and our Services.

Far Northern Region Headquarters
Far Northern Region covers 269,224 square kilometres and stretches from Cardwell in the southeast to the Torres Strait Island communities in the north and the Gulf of Carpentaria in the west.
Far North Queensland covers a large geographical and economically diverse area. Significant industries include tourism, cattle grazing, agriculture and mining of both sand and bauxite. Agricultural product such as sugar cane, tropical fruits including bananas, mangoes, papaya, lychees and coffee are grown in Far Northern Queensland. The Region supports a large tourism industry and is considered a premier tourist destination in Australia. Nearly one third of international visitors to Queensland come to the Far North.
Fire and Rescue (F&R) provides Fire, Rescue, Hazmat, Community Safety and Special Operations capability to the entire Region. This capability is provided by 25 Fire Stations located throughout the Region. This comprises of 2 permanent, 4 composite and 19 auxiliary stations. The region is staffed by 135 full time employees and 317 auxiliary employees.
The Region also has 21 Local Government areas which are supported by the QFES Emergency Management staff in meeting their requirements under the Queensland Disaster Management arrangements. The Emergency Management team has a total of 5 staff who work very closely with all local governments and the wider QFES.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations is co-located with the F&R Far Northern Region but led by the RFS Assistant Commissioner. RFS FNR operates with 206 brigades, and is staffed by approximately 4,475 personnel, including regional QFES personnel, Volunteer Firefighters, and Volunteer Community Educators.
State Emergency Service (SES) regional operations is co-located with the F&R Far Northern Region but led by the SES Assistant Commissioner. SES FNR operates with 52 groups, and is staffed by approximately 1,143 personnel, including regional QFES personnel and volunteers.
Far Northern Fire Communications Centre is co-located with Queensland Ambulance Service in Anderson Street Cairns.

Northern Region Headquarters
Northern Region is one of the most diverse demographical and geographical regions within the Queensland Fire & Emergency Services. The region spans from Ingham to the Gulf the length of the Qld/Northern Territory border to Birdsville and to Bowen in the south which encompasses an extensive area of 600,000 klm2.
Northern regional operations is led by the Regional Assistant Commissioner who oversees 20 urban fire stations, regional headquarters and area offices staffed by approximately 445 employees, ranging from full-time and auxiliary firefighters, emergency management officers, community safety officers and technical rescue.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations is co-located with the QFES Northern Regional office but led by the RFS Regional Manager. RFS Northern Region operates with 186 brigades, staffed by approximately 14 regional QFES personnel, 4056 Volunteer Firefighters, 44 Volunteer Community Educators.
State Emergency Service (SES) regional operations is co-located with the FRS Northern Region but led by the SES Regional Manager. SES Northern Region operates with 40 groups, staffed by approximately 596 volunteers, and they are supported by 12 SES staff in Townsville and Mount Isa offices.

South Western Region Headquarters
South Western Region (SWR) runs from Toowoomba in the east, west to the South Australian border and south to the New South Wales border. The region's major city is Toowoomba with most of the population concentrated in the eastern part of the region, with the western areas more sparsely populated.
SWR operations is led by Fire & Emergency Services Assistant Commissioner David Hermann who oversees 40 urban fire stations, regional headquarters and area command offices staffed by approximately 580 employees ranging from career firefighters, emergency management officers, auxiliary firefighters, community safety officers and technical rescue. South Western Region has the highest percentage of auxiliary firefighters working along full time staff, with over 470 auxiliaries and more than 90 full time firefighters.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations are co-located with the South Western Region but led by the State RFS Assistant Commissioner. The SWR RFS supports over 7,300 volunteer firefighters in a geographically large area of approximately 400,000 square kilometres. The Region manages over 350 Rural Fire Brigades, with nearly 600 Fire Wardens through two Area Offices located at Toowoomba and Roma.
The South Western Region State Emergency Service (SES) covers the Toowoomba and Roma Areas. The SES Regional Office is located in Charlton and led by the SES Regional Manager, overseeing 6 full time and 3 part time staff and Area offices in both Toowoomba and Roma. The South Western Region covers approximately 426 000 square kilometres stretching from Yarraman in the north, Goondiwindi in the south and as far west as Eromanga. South Western Region encompasses 11 Local Governments and supports 12 active SES Units and 41 active SES groups.
