Alarms

I would like information on monitored alarms

Specialists in Alarm Services (SAS) is part of QFES. Alarm monitoring is a service managed by SAS to ensure buildings which are either prescribed under legislation to have a direct turnout, or those that elect to have a direct turnout, receive an appropriate QFES response in the shortest possible time, in the event a fire is detected by their fire detection systems. You can use our contact form selecting Smoke Alarms or email SAS for more information.

Assistance during/after a severe weather event

My property has been damaged by a weather event and I need financial assistance

QFES does not provide financial assistance directly. You can contact your local council to see what kind of support is available in your area or contact your insurance company. Alternatively, visit the Queensland Government website to find out if State Government assistance is available to you.

Chemicals and the environment

I am concerned about the incorrect disposal of chemicals

QFES is not the agency that addresses concerns about chemicals entering the environment. The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (DEHP) and your local council are the best people to investigate your concerns. QFES is responsible for responding to hazardous condition incidents, such as a chemical fire or spill, but we do not regulate or address incidents of environmental pollution or incorrect disposal methods. Community education

I would like to educate a young person about fire safety

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) does a lot of work in the community to inform and educate people about fire safety. The Fight Fire Fascination program is supplied free by QFES. It supports parents and guardians with their efforts to educate their children about fire safety. Information about this program and the form to request assistance can be found on the QFES website.

I would like to find out about your road safety program for teenagers.

QFES does a lot of work in the community to inform and educate people about road safety. In particular, we provide a Road Attitudes and Action Planning (RAAP) program that supports schools with their efforts to educate their students about road safety. I would like a fire safety assessment in my home

Safehome is a FREE service provided by QFES to householders in an urban fire service area. Local firefighters will come to your home to assist you to recognise fire and safety hazards in and around the home. Once the hazards are identified you can then take steps to eliminate them. Donations

I would like to donate something to QFES for training purposes

As a government department, QFES has strict policies and procedures around the donation of goods and services. Under these rules, QFES is unable to accept donations from the public for training purposes.

Thank you for your offer to donate goods or services for people affected by a weather event. QFES does not manage donations for events, these are looked after by GIVIT. You can find out more on their website.

Fire Hydrants

There is a problem with a fire hydrant

QFES does not look after issues with hydrants or underwater pipes. Hydrants are the responsibility of your local council and pipes are the responsibility of your water supplier.

Occupier statements

Where should I send my occupier statement?

You can email us your statement as a scanned attachment. Please be aware that if there are any Critical Defects listed for the Fire Safety Installations listed in the annual statement, you are also required to supply details including procurement orders, work orders and completion invoices for the repair and rectification of those critical defects.

Overgrown properties

I have noticed a property is overgrown and could be a fire risk

QFES is not responsible for overgrown property concerns, this falls within the jurisdiction of your local council. Please direct your concerns to them for action.

Purchasing

I have something to sell to QFES

As a government department, QFES has strict policies and procedures around the procurement of goods and services. Under these rules, QFES is only able to purchase items from registered businesses, often through a comprehensive cost analysis and tender process. As a result, QFES is unable to purchase items from the general public.

I would like to buy a fire blanket/extinguisher

Unfortunately QFES does not provide this type of service. You will need to contact a fire maintenance service company who will be able to assist. These are listed either in the Yellow Pages or can be searched through the internet. As a government department, QFES cannot be seen to be endorsing any specific business so we are unable to recommend a company to you.

I would like to buy a firefighter calendar

QFES does not produce the firefighter calendar. This is produced by a private business and is not affiliated with QFES in any way.

I am a firefighter overseas and would like to join QFES

At this point in time the only intake for QFES firefighters is through our Recruit Firefighter recruitment process. Information on this can be found on our website under the employment tab. It is a requirement for application for firefighter and Station Officer positions that candidates are either Australian or New Zealand Citizens, or hold permanent residence status. We are unable to offer sponsorship.
