North Coast Region covers the coastal areas of Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast and inland to the North and South Burnett. Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast are among the fastest growing urban areas in Australia and attract significant numbers of tourists throughout the year. The Region is divided into two Zones, Wide-Bay Burnett and Sunshine Coast.
North Coast regional operations is led by a Fire and Rescue Assistant Commissioner who oversees 46 urban fire stations, regional headquarters and area offices staffed by approximately 700 employees, ranging from career firefighters, emergency management officers, auxiliary firefighters, support personnel, community safety officers and technical rescue officers.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) regional operations is co-located with Fire and Rescue North Coast Region but led by the RFSQ Assistant Commissioner. RFSQ North Coast operates with 280 brigades, staffed by approximately 6300 volunteers, supported by regional QFES personnel, Volunteer Firefighters and Volunteer Community Educators.
State Emergency Service (SES) regional operations is co-located with Fire and Rescue North Coast Region but led by the SES Assistant Commissioner. SES North Coast operates with 48 groups, staffed by approximately 1000 volunteers, supported by regional QFES personnel, Volunteer responders and Volunteer Community Educators.
Our Fire Communications Centre is located at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast.
