Who is eligible?
The Smoke Alarm Subsidy Scheme is available if you:
are deaf or hearing impaired, and
have a current pensioner concession card, and
are a resident of Queensland, and
have not previously received a smoke alarm under the smoke alarm subsidy scheme

How much will it cost?
The Smoke Alarm Subsidy Scheme requires only $50 form the applicant with the rest of the cost covered by the funding supplied by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. Specialty smoke alarms for deaf or hearing impaired people can cost more than $400.
What will be supplied?
The smoke alarm supplied under the scheme is wireless with a lithium battery, It includes a flashing light and vibrating pad.
