The Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) recognises the value of our service and the community we reach.

Partnerships involve mutually beneficial relationships and we encourage Shared Value opportunities. Each partnership is individual, and we focus on ensuring our volunteers are supported and engaged.

Our Partnerships directly help SES Volunteers across the State to perform their role and assist the most vulnerable members of the Queensland community, often in challenging times and events.

“It just makes my life a little bit easier. It’s fantastic to know that the community and that some quite significant companies in Queensland are behind the SES.”

SES Principal Community Partners

Suncorp - Principal Partner

Together, we’ll help Queenslanders prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters.

The SES is proud to have Suncorp as our Principal Community Partner.
Suncorp supports SES’s community engagement and education campaigns, funds vital equipment for SES volunteers and promotes volunteerism across the state. Together, we’ll help Queenslanders connect with their neighbours and other vital support services, bringing communities together to enable better preparation, response and recovery.

Suncorp’s ambassador, Johnathan Thurston met with Qld SES
Suncorp Group CEO Steve Johnston attended a launch event for the partnership at Suncorp Stadium on 20 September 2020 and said “I know I speak on behalf of every employee when I say Suncorp is incredibly proud of its Queensland heritage, and I can think of no better organisation to work with to prepare and protect our home state”. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) Commissioner Greg Leach said that “SES is delighted to partner with Suncorp, an iconic Queensland brand that knows the landscape and the impact natural disasters can have on it. “We know Suncorp understands the huge commitment of our SES volunteers, and this timely partnership, ahead of what is expected to be a busy storm and cyclone season, will help to better prepare our communities for whatever Mother Nature throws our way.”

Energex and Ergon (part of the Energy Queensland group) and Powerlink - SES Supporting Partners

Energy Partnership

Energy companies are Energising Queensland SES thanks to an equipment boost.

The generous support from Energy Queensland (through Energex and Ergon Energy) and Powerlink Queensland delivers $200,000 worth of equipment available to frontline Queensland SES volunteers.

Under the Energising Queensland SES Equipment Program, SES Groups throughout Queensland receive resuscitation equipment, pole saws, generators, chainsaws, stretchers, emergency lighting equipment, vehicle accessories and other tools and technology items to help them provide additional support for the community. The 2022/23 program launched in Southport on 23 August 2022 and groups around the state will be awarded equipment chosen by them to meet the needs of their area. "The disaster response equipment provided to SES Groups by Energy Qld and Powerlink Qld has been a welcome addition to frontline emergency toolkits," Mr Andrew Short, Assistant Commissioner SES said. "SES volunteers are on call 24-7, ready to help their communities whenever they are needed; these valued volunteers — with families, jobs and commitments like anyone else — give up their time to be there to lend a hand when people are doing it tough.”

Powerlink Queensland Chief Executive Paul Simshauser said Powerlink is delighted to continue supporting SES volunteers across Queensland.
“Delivering a partnership program that makes a significant difference to Queensland communities is something we are very proud of,” Mr Simshauser said.
“This program has provided more than $1 million in new equipment to SES groups across the length and breadth of the state.
“Seeing how community volunteers put this equipment to good use in responding to emergencies makes this partnership extremely rewarding for all involved.”

Energy Queensland (Energex and Ergon) CEO, Rod Duke said Energy Queensland was pleased to partner with Powerlink Queensland to deliver the Program. “Together we contend with storms, floods, fires and cyclones but we all have a single goal – to assist the affected communities prepare for and recover from such emergencies. And what our crews always relay to me is what a pleasure it is to work shoulder to shoulder with the SES volunteers and the great work they do in assisting us to get the power up and running faster. That’s why we’re always keen to thank them in return by providing them new equipment to make their roles a little easier while they’re providing vital support to all Queenslanders during disaster events.”
